Acadia National Park Part 2, July 2022

We spent a week in one of our favorite places this summer. Although we had enjoyed vacations here before with our friends and family, it was the first time we Rv’d here as a couple.

This meant not being able to stay in the familiar Mt. Desert Campground where we had so many fond memories tenting, unfortunately they do not have sites for larger RV’s. So, a few miles down the road we went with our 1997 Jeep Wrangler and our Rattan E Bikes in tow, we reserved a spot at Mt. Desert Narrows Camping Resort about a 7minute drive from the entrance to the park. It’s a very nice Resort with friendly greeters at the desk who told us not to miss the free ice cream social in an hour, which we willingly took part in. Plenty of fairly level spots with views of the ocean and a nice pool for taking an evening dip after full days hiking and biking.

If you haven’t been to Acadia National Park (ACP), it’s definitely a visit to add to your Bucket List. Make sure to get yourself a National Park Pass to save a few $$. Take the scenic drive on the 27mile Park Loop Road. The Park includes loads of biking on the 45 miles of Carriage roads and 150 miles of hiking trails. You can climb mountains or just walk along the rocky coast; beautiful views are literally everywhere.

We drove our Jeep to ACP everyday with our E Bikes on the rear rack. We hiked up the Beehive with twist and turns all the way up to the Summit. Visited Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and rode over 25 miles of E Biking around the mountains of Jordan Pond and having a wonder dinner at Jordan Pond House with their famous Popovers. We also explored the some of the beautiful ACP mountains on the Southwest side of Mt. Desert Island near Long Pond and Echo Lake. Don’t forget to book reservations online May25th – Oct 22nd. to drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain, you now have to book your visits to the top (https://www.nps.gov). Wow what an incredible 360-degree view of the Atlantic coast and the rugged landscape of Maine and other states.

Spending this time together in our moving home, with the abilities to see the whole country, Atlantic to Pacific, Canada to The Gulf of Mexico and someday Alaska. This time in our RV is a gift we are giving ourselves, because you never know what’s around the corner and there is just so much yet to see!
