Caverns of Sonora Jan 14th

In a word: AMAZING

We took the long (but not the longest!) tour of 1 hour and 45 minutes, walked to a depth of 155 feet below the surface and saw tunnels that had only been recently reopened. We took over a hundred photos but here are a few. We’ve been in cave/cavern tours in the past, but nothing like this. This place is world -renowned and was discovered in 1931 by a man who saw his dog chase a raccoon into a hole in the ground. There are more rooms that haven’t been opened and likely never will. The longest tour is 4 hours and you can rappel into the ” Devil’s pit ” portion of the caverns. A truly amazing place.
