These are a group of gigantic ground drawing figures created by humans for unknown reasons. There are over 200 in the Colorado Desert, these are the most well-known. The figures are of humans, four legged animals and spirals. One of the human figures is thought to be a woman with long hair, one male with a phalus. Thought maybe these were of their god. First observed by non-natives in the 1930’s, they have been ceremonial in nature to native cultures. Many of these “gravel pictographs” are believed to date to the prehistoric period. When looking at them it is amazing that they have lasted so long.
